Sick, sick, sick

Brooklyn has been on stuffed up little girl for almost a week now. Our life has been filled with booger suckers, saline mist, no sleep, and that's pretty much it.

Last Wednesday/Thursday Brooklyn started to get a little stuffy, and the next thing we knew she couldn't breath out of her nose at all. For those of you reading this who haven't had a stuffy child who uses a pacifier you may not understand how hard this really is. Brooklyn was so frustrated the first night of real stuffiness. She would try to drink her milk before bed, but couldn't breath and suck down the milk at the same time. So she would try the pacifier, only she kept having the same problem. After one night of this Mom and Dad decided it might be a good weekend to take away the pacifier. If she can't use it anyway, why not, right? After two pretty rough days and nights, one of which Mom had to sleep in the rocker/recliner with Brooklyn, we weren't sure what to expect for night three. After going to sleep about 9:00, Brooklyn woke up at 11:00 coughing like crazy, so Mom was ready for another night of the chair. Brooklyn had other plans though. She went right back to sleep, and slept all night in her own bed, not waking up again until 6:30 AM. Not Mom's favorite time to wake up, but so much better than being up all night long. I think we've finally kicked the pacifier habit. Now, in a week or two, we'll start kicking the bottle habit.

This week on Tuesday Brooklyn woke up with a puffy eye. I wasn't sure if it was from her hitting herself in the face with one of her toys the day before, or if it was an infection. So Daddy took her to the doctor to get her checked out. We got a new white, thick, ooky (no other word for it) antibiotic that she has to take twice a day for ten days. It seems to be making the eye look better, hurray!

We are done being sick for a while....please!!

Brooklyn with a runny nose, puffy eye, and chapped lips from breathing out of her mouth for days.

Poor Brooky Bean (spelling?). I'm glad she is getting better and getting rid of the binky wasn't too hard.
