Fishing/Pizza/Dragons

Brooklyn's favorite show right now is Caillou. For any parent out there who has watched Caillou you'll totally understand this post. Brooklyn wants to do everything Caillou does on the show. If he's eating apples, she needs to be eating apples. If he's going on a trip to the park, she needs to do the same. When you watch an episode of Caillou it is really three smaller episodes put into one 1/2 hour show. Here is our own version of Caillou.

Pt. 1 - Pizza

In order to be just like Caillou we tried our hand at making our own pizzas. We just took some refrigerated biscuits dough and used that for our crust and then added our own toppings. In this particular episode broccoli, carrots and mushrooms are used. We only had carrots and then olives, pepperoni and ham at our house so Brooklyn had to make do with those. She had so much fun putting the different toppings on as many pizzas as we'd let her. She discovered that she doesn't like carrots on pizza, or olives or ham or pepperoni. She's a cheese pizza girl for now, but she had so much fun helping Mommy cook.

Pt. 2 - Dragons

There is an episode where one of the kids pretends to be a dragon. I went thrift store shopping to try and find some jeans for Brooklyn and found a couple of pairs of overalls. I wanted to try them out and see how they fit. Pretty darn cute little girl. After looking at herself in the mirror Brooklyn declared that she looked like Pete on Pete's Dragon. The rest of day she was either pretending to be a dragon or Pete, way too fun to watch. We also had to pull out Pete's Dragon and watch it to make sure she really did look just like Pete.

Pt. 3 - Fishing

I don't have any pictures of this outing (we'll take some this weekend when we go fishing again). A couple of weeks ago we made a trip to Milford to put some beds together. Daddy's friend from High School, Mutt, and his family invited us to go fishing. We drove to some hidden little lake west of Milford and proceeded to catch a ton of fish. Most were too small to keep, but Brooklyn (just like Caillou) got to go fishing. Unlike Caillou she actually got to catch a few fish (with Daddy's help). Although fishing was fun for Brooklyn, her favorite part was "climbing the mountain". This consisted of Mommy (in her slip on shoes) holding on to Brooklyn's hand with all her might while trying to go up the hills, through the trees, and around the lake. We have now got some hiking shoes for Brooklyn and Mommy will be taking hers down this time so we can try to get to the top, or at least not pull Mommy's arm out of it's socket. Other than climbing the mountain Brooklyn fell in love with Sadie dog. Mutt's family came with two dogs, a male, Jack and a female, Sadie. Jack jumped up on Brooklyn so she wasn't overly fond of him, but Sadie was her favorite. She wanted to follow her everywhere she went. It was too cute.
