On Our Way Home

We didn’t fly out until almost three and didn’t have to return our car until noon, so we thought we’d try to find a beach  not too far away.  GPS’s don’t like it when you say “Pacific Ocean” or “Beach”.  We eventually saw an exit on our freeway called “Beach Ave” so we took it and headed west.  We ended up on Huntington Beach.  It was pretty, empty, lots of shells and some rocks, Brooklyn was in heaven.  She loves anything water and would have been over the moon if we’d brought a shovel and bucket.  We were on our way to the airport so the plan was to get our feet wet.  Anticipating Brooklyn wanting to get a little more wet than that, we took of her pants and let her run in her panties.  When the first wave caught her feet, it seemed to take them right out from under her and ended up falling to her knees.  She then proceeded to “fall” a few more times, sit down in the sand, and kept grabbing handfuls of it and throwing it up in the air, only for most of it to land on her head.  Luckily there were some outside showers so we could get the majority of the sand off of her, and mommy planned ahead and kept out an extra outfit just in case we needed it.  As crazy as it was, as mad as Mommy and Daddy got, it was totally worth it for the look of joy on that little girls face as she played at the beach.

Daddy wrote her name in the sand.DSC00764DSC00776Not sure if you can see it or not, but these strange and unusual prints at the beach belong to our daughter…“Girl who walks on toes”

We didn’t forget our little angel baby either, he was always in our thoughts and hearts on our family vacation.  Wishing we could buy him his first pair of ears, an adorable Tigger outfit, picturing his little face seeing all the characters for the first time…DSC00779

Right before leaving Brooklyn sat down in the sand…got rinsed off, and fell on the way to the showers and got all sandy again.  Such a funny/klutzy little girl we have.DSC00788IMG_2655IMG_2657Taking her shower at the beach…cold, but so nice to get that sand off!

After the beach it was off to return our little car IMG_2650 and head to the little Long Beach airport.  We went outside again to climb up a ramp to get on the plane, and flew home without any problems.  Fabulous little family vacation.
